WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan. 14) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team improved to 7-0 at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse with a 79-51 romp of the visiting Grove City Wolverines on Saturday.
The home team (12-3, 7-1) led its opponents from start to finish, thanks in part to a hot start, shooting 55 percent (17-of-31) from the field in the first half. Conversely, the Wolverines (4-11, 3-5) shot just 19 percent from the field, as the Jackets used their advantage to race out to a 43-13 lead at half.
Waynesburg's commanding lead allowed the Jackets to utilize their bench early, with all 10 Jackets logging at least five minutes of playing time and at least one successful field goal try.
Waynesburg held major advantages in rebounding and field goal shooting. The Orange and Black out-rebounded the Wolverines 54-to-43, including a 39-to-28 edge in defensive rebounds. The Jackets also connected on 33-of-72 tries from the floor (46 percent), while Grove City made just 17 of its 68 shot attempts (25 percent).
In total, the Yellow Jacket offense featured three double-digit scorers, one of which was junior guard
Brittany Spencer. Spencer recorded her third double-double of the season, leading all scorers with 18 points and grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds. Defensively, Spencer added two steals and one block.

Jessi Drayer chipped in 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals while senior point guard
Hannah Hunter added 12 points, a game-high eight assists and four rebounds.
The Jackets return to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Washington, Pa. to take on the Washington & Jefferson Presidents. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
