Men's cagers fall at PAC-leading Thiel

Waynesburg struggles from the field in 66-48 loss to Tomcats

Box Score

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 21) – Shooting struggles hampered the Waynesburg University men's basketball team on Saturday during their battle with Thiel College, the number-one team in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). The Yellow Jackets connected on just 26 percent of their tries from the field and dropped a 66-48 decision to the Tomcats.

The Jackets (4-14, 1-8) fell behind 34-25 at halftime, despite shooting 46 percent (five-of-11) from beyond three-point range in the first period and scoring the first five points of the game. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets made just one try from long range in the second half and connected on 23 percent of their field goals over the final 20 minutes of action.

Thiel (12-4, 9-0) led by as many as 23 before closing out the victory, in which the Tomcats shot 41 percent from the field and out-rebounded Waynesburg 47-to-43.

Waynesburg was led by reserve freshman forward Jason Propst, who tallied a team-high eight points. Fellow freshman forward Jacob Fleegle chipped in seven points, while senior forward James Allenby pulled down a team-best seven rebounds. The Cats featured four double-digit scorers, including senior forward Blair Rozenblad, who recorded a double-double effort on a game-high 16 points and a contest-best 17 rebounds.

The Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 25, when they head to New Wilmington to face with Westminster in another road PAC battle. The Titans defeated Waynesburg earlier this year at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse by the final score of 74-71. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
