BETHANY, W.Va. (Jan. 7) – Led by four starters who scored in double-figures, the Waynesburg University women's basketball team won its ninth game in a row by beating Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Bethany 92-76 on Saturday.
 
The Yellow Jackets' (11-2, 6-0) 92 points was its highest total of the season. The loss dropped the Bison to 7-6 on the season and 3-3 in conference action.
 
Bethany enjoyed its largest lead of the game of six points (45-39) with 1:19 remaining in the first half. The Jackets scored five unanswered points to end out the half, with Hannah Hunter draining a three at the buzzer to send it to the half, with the Bison holding on to a 45-44 lead.
 
Trailing by one, Waynesburg's offense came alive after the break, as the Jackets shot 15-of-29 (51%) from the field, including a perfect five-for-five (100%) from the three-point arc, to outscore Bethany 48-31 in the second half. Defensively, Waynesburg forced 23 turnovers, while turning the ball over a season-low 10 times.  
 
Senior guard Hannah Hunter recorded another all-around effort, pouring in a game-high 22 points on six-of-nine shooting from three-point range. The Hopewell, Pa. native also posted a team-best seven rebounds to go along with six assists and three steals. Junior guard Jessi Drayer contributed 21 points, three rebounds and three steals. Fellow juniors Paige Pierce and Brittany Spencer were the other two Jackets to reach double-digits, as they chipped in 18 and 11 points, respectively.
 
The Bison were led by Annie Walker, who recorded 15 points in the loss.
 
Waynesburg returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. when they travel to Crestview Hills, Ky., to face the Thomas More Saints in a PAC showdown. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
