Despite the large early edge, Bethany (0-1, 1-4) was able to climb back into the contest when both Spencer and senior forward

Gina Rievel converted a layup to tie the game at 27-27 after a Jacket steal. Sophomore
Rachel Lovely hit a layup to close out the scoring in the first half and put the Jackets up 29-27 at the break.
It looked as though the Bison were poised to make it a fight for 40 minutes, by taking their biggest lead at 34-31 with 15:07 to go in the second half. However, Waynesburg's defense tightened up and the visitors used an 18-0 run over the next seven minutes to surge ahead 49-34. Rievel scored six of her eight points during the surge.
Bethany desperately tried to force overtime, cutting its deficit to as close as 62-58 with 11 seconds to go, but a last-second three-pointer came up short and the Jackets held on for the victory.
Along with her big scoring night, Spencer was also a force on the glass, pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Freshman guard
Lauren Blair poured in 11 points off the bench for the Jackets.
Bethany held a slight 51-47 advantage in rebounds but Waynesburg held the Bison to 27.3 (18-for-66) percent shooting from the field. Waynesburg also forced the Bison into 22 turnovers.
