BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Dec. 8) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team battled to the very end of Saturday's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup at Geneva on Saturday. After falling behind 33-22 at halftime, the Yellow Jackets pulled to within a single basket in period number two, before falling 68-62 to the Golden Tornadoes.

Geneva (1-8, 1-2) opened up the second half by extending its lead to 39-26 after 4:30 of action. Trailing by 10 (51-41) with 9:23 left to play, Waynesburg (2-6, 0-4) was finally able to put together a serious run of offense against the Tornadoes. A 7-0 surge by the visitors, which was capped by a basket from sophomore point guard Casey Hope, pulled the Jackets to within three points at 51-48 with 6:41 showing on the clock.

Geneva responded with five-straight points to push its lead back to eight, and the home team never gave up its multi-basket lead. Waynesburg was able to trim its disadvantage down to as few as four points at 66-62 with just 25 seconds left to play, but that was close as the Jackets came to picking up their first conference win of the season.

Waynesburg featured a trio of double-digit scorers that was led by sophomore Kenny Klase, who came off the bench to tie for the game high with 16 points. Sophomore forward Jacob Fleegle connected on six-of-11 tries from the field during a 15-point night, while fellow sophomore forward Jason Propst chipped in 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Jackets are stepping away from PAC play for the next few games and are next in action at Hiram on Saturday, Dec. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
