Waynesburg men lose at home to St. Vincent

Jackets cant hold onto early lead in 77-55 loss

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Feb. 4) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team ran into a hot shooting squad from St. Vincent Saturday afternoon and fell by the final score of 77-55.
 
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets dropped to 4-17 for the season and 1-11 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play. St. Vincent improved to 16-5 overall and 9-3 in conference action.
 
Waynesburg trailed by nine (33-24) following the conclusion of the first half. During those first hard-fought 20 minutes of play, the Yellow Jackets trailed by just one, 25-24, with three minutes to go until halftime. However, Saint Vincent went on an 8-0 run in the final 2:40 of the half to extend its lead. The Bearcats proceeded to pull away in the second half by out-scoring their opponents 44-31 to seal up the victory.

Junior forward Aaron Cromwell led the Jackets with 10 points and six rebounds. Fellow juniors Ben Altmeyer and Kurt Bonnet both added eight points for Waynesburg. The Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 8, when they host the Bethany Bison at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
