WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Feb. 8) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team played right with visiting Bethany through the first half of itsPresidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown on Wednesday at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets couldn't keep it up in the second half, as the Bison were able to pull away for a 75-44 victory. The loss dropped Waynesburg to 4-18 on the year and 1-12 in PAC play. Bethany improved to 19-3 on the season and 11-2 in conference action.

Jason Propst layup cut Bethany's lead to just 25-23 with seven minutes left in the first half. Bethany went on a 7-3 run to close out the half up six points, 32-26. In the second half, the two teams went back-and-forth through the first three minutes, and a layup by freshman forward
Jacob Fleegle cut the deficit to just two points (34-32) with 17:43 minutes left in the game.
Unfortunately, the Bison went on a 41-12 run to end the game and pick up the victory.
Though it came in a losing effort, senior guard
Larry Alexander led the Jackets with eight points. Freshman forward
Jason Propst chipped in six points and a team-high five rebounds. Junior James Barton led the Bison with a game-high 18 points, including four-of-six shooting from three-point range. Freshman guard Delonte' Joyce grabbed a game-high six rebounds in the win for Bethany.
Bethany won despite being outrebounded by the Jackets, who held a 42-to-34 advantage on the glass. The Jackets return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 11, when they host Thomas More in a PAC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
