Yellow Jackets drop 2-0 contest to Purple Raiders

Box Score

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 28) - The Waynesburg University women's soccer team brought a two-game winning streak entering Saturday's contest against the University of Mount Union. Unfortunately for the Jackets (3-4), they couldn't keep the winning going and dropped a 2-0 decision to a tough Purple Raiders (7-2-1) squad at John F. Wiley Stadium.

Mount Union got the only goal it needed when Shannon Evans scored off a deflection in the 13th minute to give Mount Union a 1-0 lead. The visiting team tacked on an insurance goal in the 81st minute when Allison Fouss tallied a breakaway goal to bring about the 2-0 final score.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ciara Scott made six saves in the loss. Senior Susie Godwin and sophomore Karleigh Murphey registered two shots each to lead the Jacket offense.

Waynesburg will try to get back on the winning track when it hosts Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday, October 1, for the final tune-up game before Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play starts later in the week. Start time is set for 6 p.m. at John F. Wiley Stadium.
