Men's tennis falls 5-4 at Bethany

BETHANY, W.Va. (March 25) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team traveled to Bethany College on Tuesday afternoon for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match with the Bison. The Yellow Jackets dropped a disappointing 5-4 decision to their hosts.
 
Waynesburg (1-4, 0-2) fell behind 2-1 after completion of the three doubles matches. Bethany (1-1, 1-0) scored hard fought 8-6 victories at first and third doubles to get things going, Juniors Colin Philips and Philip Littlejohn notched an 8-4 win at the number-two spot to keep the Orange and Black from being swept in doubles action.
 
When play turned to the singles side of the match, junior Isaiah Cochran won at the number-one spot by the scores of 6-2, 6-2. Waynesburg added a 6-4, 6-3 win by Littlejohn and a 6-3, 6-1 victory by freshman James Manges at third and sixth singles, respectively, to complete the day. The match was ultimately decided at the number-five spot, where Jacket freshman Mitchell Ross battled his opponent in a three-set contest played out to a final score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.
 
The Orange and Black will look to bounce back from Tuesday's setback when they host the defending PAC champions from Grove City College. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
