Men's tennis downs Thiel

Yellow Jackets score 8-1 win over Tomcats

GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 16) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team snapped a six-game losing streak by defeating Thiel 8-1 on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets also picked up their first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win of the year in Greenville.
 
Waynesburg (2-8, 1-6) got things rolling by taking two-of-three doubles matches from the Tomcats (0-6, 0-6). The number-one team of junior Isaiah Cochran and freshman Timothy Harris picked up an 8-2 win, while the junior pair of Colin Philips and Philip Littlejohn snagged an 8-1 triumph at second doubles.
 
The Jackets enjoyed even more success in singles competition, as they posted a perfect 6-0 mark with every win coming in straight sets. Cochran, Harris, Littlejohn and Philips all improved to 2-0 on the day, while freshmen Mitchell Ross and James Manges picked up wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
 
Waynesburg is scheduled for one last tune-up before the 2014 PAC Championships, which will be held on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26. The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to end their regular season on Tuesday, April 22, with a road trip to Muskingum University. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
