Jacket baseball squares off with La Roche

Waynesburg stumbles in 21-4 setback

Box Score

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (April 21) – The Waynesburg University baseball team played its final non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game of the regular season on Monday, when it traveled to La Roche College. The Yellow Jackets fell 21-4 to the Redhawks.

Waynesburg (13-8) actually jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, when sophomore designated hitter Brent Williams belted an RBI double that plated junior centerfielder Kyle Weyand. Unfortunately, La Roche (21-11) scored seven runs in the bottom of the frame and went on to claim the win.

Weyand, freshman shortstop Nathan Mori, freshman first baseman Jonathon Kletzli and sophomore catcher Tyler Rubasky collected two hits each to pace the offense. Mori posted a team-high two RBI, while four different Jackets scored one run each.

Waynesburg, which is currently in a three-way tie for second place in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) standings, is scheduled to play a marquee conference doubleheader tomorrow against first-place Washington & Jefferson. If the weather cooperates, first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
