WAYNESB URG, Pa. (Jan. 14) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team ran its current winning streak to a season-high three games on Wednesday night by defeating Thiel, 77-47.
The Yellow Jackets (7-7, 4-3) jumped out to a 43-25 halftime lead and never let up on the visiting Tomcats (3-10, 2-5), who never led on the night. Waynesburg never led by fewer than 20 points over the second period and built up leads as large as 32 points before picking up the victory.
Eight different Jackets scored between five and 10 points on the night for Waynesburg. Senior guards
Rebecca Kerr and
Hayden Giuliani, as well as sophomore guard
Katie Gehlmann, tossed in a team-high 10 points each against the Tomcats. Sophomore
Haley Delaney pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Junior point guard
Lauren Blair dished out a game-high five assists and pulled down eight rebounds.
Waynesburg will go for a fourth-straight victory, all against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponents, on Saturday, when it travels to Chatham. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
