WASHINGTON, Pa. (Jan.3) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Washington & Jefferson 64-57 on Saturday.
After trading buckets in the beginning of the first half Waynesburg [6-6, 2-1] was able to jump out to an 18-10 lead at the halfway point of the period, which wound up being the Yellow Jackets' largest advantage of the game A 7-0 run by the Presidents [1-11, 0-3] to close out the half allowed the Jackets to walk into the locker room at halftime with a slim 27-26 advantage.
The Presidents took the lead 10 seconds into the half on a three-pointer that put the host squad ahead 29-27.W&J used the trey to open up a 19-2 run and build a 42-31 lead with 15:53 left in the game.  
Waynesburg maintained its composure after giving up the double-digit advantage and began pulling itself back into the game on the backs of seniors 
Kenny Klase and 
Jason Propst, who scored six and seven points, respectively, in the closing 5:25 of the evening. The Jackets finally regained the advantage (59-57) when Propst laid the ball in with 1:14 left in the game. The Jackets closed out the win by posting the final five points of the game.
Senior 
Thomas Ellis paced the Jackets in scoring with 14 points. Klase finished with a double-double comprised of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Propst finished the game with 11 points and six rebounds. Senior 
Jacob Fleegle chipped in with six points and six rebounds and junior 
B.J. Durham posted nine points and three steals.
The Orange and Black will be tested again this upcoming week when it takes on the defending PAC champions from Saint Vincent College. Tipoff is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
