Melanie Byler and
Nikki Davis each registered a goal on Wednesday afternoon, but the Waynesburg University women's soccer team fell in overtime to Saint Vincent, 3-2.
The Bearcats scored in the 67
th and 69
th minutes to force the extra frame. Around 12 minutes into the contest, Waynesburg (5-8, 2-4 PAC) struck first on Byler's team-leading seventh goal of the season. Junior forward
Melanie Burchfield was credited with an assist on the tally. In the 56
th minute, Waynesburg increased its lead after Davis received a feed from Byler and buried a shot into the top right corner of the net. Unfortunately for the Yellow Jackets, they were unable to hold off the Saint Vincent (7-8, 3-3 PAC) rally and lost in overtime for the first time this season.
Waynesburg will return to action on Saturday afternoon for a match at Chatham.Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
