Melanie Byler netted a hat trick on Saturday afternoon, leading Waynesburg University to a 6-1 road victory at Bethany College. Sophomore midfielder
Jesse Serra also registered two markers during a five-goal second half as the Jackets secured their fourth victory of the season. The win came in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener for the both teams.
Byler started the scoring at the 40-minute mark, burying a shot off the post for her second goal of the season. After the teams traded goals in a two-minute span, Byler scored her second of the game in the 56
th minute, the first of four unanswered markers by the Yellow Jackets (4-4, 1-0). Just over five minutes later, Byler secured her hat trick on a setup by sophomore forward
Nikki Davis.
Waynesburg outshot Bethany (2-6-1, 0-1) 22-10, while also holding a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper
Ciara Scott made six saves in 78 minutes of action to earn her fourth victory of the season.

Waynesburg will return to the pitch on Tuesday night with a road match against Thomas More College. Kickoff from Crestview Hills, Kentucky, is scheduled for 6 p.m.
