Heather Davis scored 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting, but the Waynesburg University women's basketball team lost at Mount Union, 87-57. The contest was the title game of the Purple Raider Shootout, which was hosted by the Purple Raiders.
Davis scored 15 of her 21 points from beyond the arc. The Ford City High School product scored nine of Waynesburg's (1-2) first 10 points by knocking down a trio of threes in the first 2:45 of the game, giving the Yellow Jackets a 10-5 lead. From that point, Mount Union (3-0) outscored Waynesburg 23-4 for the remainder of the quarter. The Raiders never trailed over the final three periods on their way to a 30-point victory.
Senior forward
Heather Davis was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds over two games played at the tournament.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Tuesday, November 24, in a road game at Carnegie Mellon. Tipoff in Pittsburgh is schedule for 6 p.m.
