AUBURNDALE, Fla. (March 11) – The Waynesburg University baseball team played its first night game of 2015 on Wednesday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Yellow Jackets faced off with Webster University, which came into the 2015 season ranked eighth in the country, and dropped an 11-1 final score to the Gorloks.
The Yellow Jackets (2-5) fell behind 3-0 in the top of the third inning to Webster (4-4), before seeing that deficit grow to 9-0 after six-and-a-half innings of play. Waynesburg broke up the shutout with a run in the bottom of the sixth frame. Sophomore first baseman

Ben Shorthouse tallied two hits each to make up the bulk of the Jackets' nine-hit attack. All nine of those hits were singles.
Senior
Zach Kreke suffered the loss on the mound after giving up five runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings of work. The veteran posted four strikeouts on the day. Kreke was the first of four different Jacket pitchers to toe the rubber on the evening.
Waynesburg is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 12, with a doubleheader against Clarkson University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
