WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 11) – The Waynesburg University softball team hosted Westminster for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Saturday. The Titans spoiled the Yellow Jackets' senior day festivities by sweeping the twin-bill with the final scores of 5-3 and 7-3.
Waynesburg (8-18, 2-8) fell behind early in both games against Westminster (17-5, 7-1). The Jackets trailed 4-0 in the opener, before scoring three of the game's final four runs to end on an upswing. A five-run top of the first put the home team in a deep hold in game two.
In both contests, the Yellow Jackets were able to gather themselves and finish with positive run differentials after the early struggles. Sophomore
Lyndi Gareis suffered the loss in the circle in game one, while junior
Stephanie Kotomski did the same in the late contest.
Senior
Haley Payne notched two hits in game one, while junior
Jessica Dorazio repeated the feat in game two. Payne also posted a Waynesburg-best two RBI in the late in contest.
The Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, April 14, when they host Grove City for a PAC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
