WAYNEBURG, Pa. (Jan. 22) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team played host to the defending NCAA Division III national champions from Thomas More on Friday night. The Yellow Jackets battled hard in front of their home crowd but fell 119-80 against the number-one-ranked and undefeated Saints.
Though it came in defeat, the Yellow Jackets (9-8, 7-3) scored the most points of any of Thomas More's (16-0, 10-0) opponents this season. Waynesburg battled the Saints from the opening tip and trailed by just one point (16-15) midway through the opening quarter. However, Thomas More closed out the first period with a 34-20 lead. The visiting team's advantage grew to 64-43 by halftime, before the Saints closed out the victory.

Addy Knetzer put together a solid night in defeat, going for team highs in both scoring (19 points) and rebounds (six) over just 19 minutes of play. Senior forward
Heather Davis added 11 points on the night.
Waynesburg will look to bounce back from the defeat on Wednesday, Jan. 27, when it travels to Westminster. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
