BETHANY, W. Va. (Jan. 9) - A monster third quarter was the difference as the Waynesburg University women's basketball team outlasted Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany, 82-75. The Yellow Jackets used a 35-point third quarter to overcome a five-point halftime deficit and earn their fourth conference victory of the season.Â

Sophomore forward
Addy Knetzer posted her second double-double of the week, scoring 18 points while gathering 14 rebounds. Senior forward
Maura Bobby also posted double figures for the Yellow Jackets, leading all scorers on Saturday afternoon with 22 points on nine-of-11 shooting. The Poland, Ohio, native scored 10 of those points during a pivotal stretch in the final four minutes of the third quarter.Â

With Waynesburg trailing 47-44, a tip-in by Knetzer and a Bobby jumper gave the Jackets the lead. A layup by freshman guard
Monica Starre and a pair of Waynesburg free throws vaulted the Yellow Jackets into a three-point advantage.Â

After the teams traded baskets near the end of the period, the Orange and Black closed the quarter on a 9-1 run, highlighted by a trio of layups by Bobby. Waynesburg maintained the lead for the remainder of game to cruise the road conference victory.

Waynesburg shot 46 percent from the field, including over 55 percent during the second half. The Jacket defense limited Bethany to a 38 percent effort from the floor.Â

With the win, Waynesburg improved to 6-7, including a 4-2 mark in PAC play. Bethany dropped to 5-8, 3-3 in the PAC. The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Wednesday with a road game at Thiel. Tipoff from Greenville, Pennyslvania, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
