NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 11) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team got off to a strong start in Tuesday's road Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at Westminster. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets couldn't maintain the momentum from its win in set one and fell 3-1 to the Titans.
Waynesburg (1-20, 0-14) battled through an intense first set en route to a 25-23 victory. Unfortunately, the Jackets weren't able to recapture their winning ways throughout the remainder of the night, as they dropped the final three sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-9.
Senior
Shannon Morgan paced the Jacket offense with a team-high 10 kills. Sophomores
Jordyn Wyllie and
Lexy Waldman chipped in eight successful attacks each against Westminster (12-12, 5-7). Sophomore
Sydni Ayers played a major role in the Waynesburg attack with 31 assists (7.75 assists per set).
Defensively, the Jackets were paced by freshman
Alyssa Proper, who posted a team-best 17 digs. Junior
Delaney Denniston chipped in 12 digs on the night. Denniston also served up a pair of aces.
Waynesburg returns home to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Thursday for its annual Dig Pink match. Start time against Grove City is scheduled for 7 p.m.
