BETHANY, W.Va. (Nov. 30) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team traveled to Bethany for its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game of the season. The Yellow Jackets rebounded from a slow start to defeat the Bison 72-62.
The Jackets (3-2, 1-0) trailed 14-12 after the first quarter, but bounced back to take slim 29-27 edge into the half. The Orange and Black carried its momentum through the break and into the third quarter by scoring the first five points of the period. Senior guard
Kassidy O'Keefe opened the half with a free throw and was followed by layups from sophomore guard

Addy Knetzer that gave Waynesburg a 34-27 advantage after 2:15 of play.
The Jackets maintained multi-basket leads over Bethany (2-4, 0-1) through the quarter and moved ahead by as many as 11 points on multiple occasions. Waynesburg led 53-46 heading into the fourth quarter.
The visitors kept thing going with a three-pointer from senior guard
Katie Gehlmann to open the final 10 minutes of action. Waynesburg maintained double-digit leads until there were 50 seconds showing on the game clock. However, a pair of free throws from Gehlmann and one final make from senior forward
Haley Delaney brought about the final score.
Knetzer continued her consistently successful run to open the 2016-17 campaign by pouring in a game-high 20 points on nine-of-16 shooting. It was her fourth-straight game of 20-plus points. She also paced all players with 14 rebounds to complete her fourth double-double in five games.
Gehlmann continued her strong play with 15 points, 10 of which came on 10 attempts from the free throw line. It was her fourth double-digit scoring effort this year. Delaney and Starre contributed 10 and nine points, respectively, to the winning effort. Starre helped out with four assists, while junior guard
Rachel Eng dished out a game-high five helpers. Delaney recorded two blocks for the fourth time this season and has posted at least one swat every game this year.
Waynesburg will look to continue its winning ways on Saturday, when it travels to Grove City for a PAC showdown with the Wolverines. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
