GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 20) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team made program history on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets picked up their first-ever victory over Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) rival Thiel by an 18-8 final score.
Waynesburg (2-9, 2-4) was 0-4 against the Tomcats (0-11, 0-7) coming into the day, with their smallest margin of defeat being 11 goals. Junior
Jess Rains also tied a team record with a match-high 10 goals.
After falling behind 2-1, the Jackets bounced back with a 7-0 run that gave them a lead they never relinquished for the remainder of the contest. Rains powered the offensive outburst with five goals. Junior

Morgan Vesco also split the pipes during the surge that put the visiting squad ahead 8-2.

Danielle Beckford all found the back of the net in the final 30 minutes of action.
Along with Rains' huge day, Bachman recorded a hat trick, while Vesco scored a pair of goals. Senior JoHanna Philips backed up her team's prolific offensive outburst by stopping 15-of-23 shots on goal for a .652 save percentage.
The Jackets play their second of three-straight road games to the end the season on Friday. Waynesburg travels to Thomas More for a 5 p.m. ORLC contest.
