GREENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 13) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team made a road trip to Pitt Greensburg for a match with the Bobcats. The first two sets of the matchup were tightly contested runs to 25 points, but at the end of the night, the Bobcats grabbed a 3-0 victory.
UPG (1-8) withstood a stiff challenge from Waynesburg (0-7) over sets one and two, but was able to take a 2-0 match lead by the set scores of 25-23 and 25-22. The Bobcats scored their first win of the year by taking set three 25-13.
Waynesburg's offensive efforts were led by senior
Rachel Lange and sophomore
Jordyn Wyllie, who recorded seven kills each on the evening. Freshman Lexie Waldman chipped in six successful attacks. Speaking of attacks, sophomore
Sydni Ayers set a match high with 27 assists.
Defensively, the Jackets were paced by Ayers, who recorded a team-high seven digs. Senior
Emily Nowakowski and sophomore
Cassidy Guiser went for six digs each.
Waynesburg will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 15, when it hosts a Presidents' Athletic Conference tri-match. The Yellow Jackets welcome Westminster and Saint Vincent to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse beginning at 4 p.m.
