WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 15) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team finally played its first match in front of its home crowd when it hosted a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match on Thursday night. The Yellow Jackets dropped a pair of 3-0 contests to Saint Vincent and Westminster.
Waynesburg (0-9, 0-3) opened the day with a 25-19, 25-18, 25-20 setback against Saint Vincent (6-6, 2-1). After a thrilling 3-2 Saint Vincent win over Westminster, the Jackets closed the night by falling 25-8, 25-15, 25-16 to the Titans (8-4, 2-1).
Sophomore
Jordyn Wyllie paced the Waynesburg offense with 15 total kills (2.50 kills per set). Sophomore
Sydni Ayers continued a solid second season with the Yellow Jackets by recording 32 total assists (5.33 assists per set.)
Senior
Emily Nowakowski paced the Jacket defensive effort with a team-best 16 digs (2.67 digs per set). Freshman
Alyssa Proper chipped in 2.0 digs per set.
The Jackets play the second of three-straight PAC tri-matches on Saturday, Sept. 17, when they head to Greenville, Pennsylvania, to play the host Tomcats of Thiel and Washington & Jefferson. Waynesburg's first match is scheduled to get started at 11 a.m.
