WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 29) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team hosted Bethany on Thursday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The Yellow Jackets came up short in a 3-0 contest with the Bison.
The first two sets of the night were closely contested affairs. Waynesburg (1-15, 0-9), led late in set one, but Bethany (10-10, 5-2) rallied for a 25-23 win. Set two followed a similar script with the visiting team taking it 25-21 The match was decided by a 25-11 final in set three.
The Jackets were led by sophomore
Jordyn Wyllie and senior
Shannon Morgan, who put down seven and six kills, respectively. Sophomore
Sydni Ayers produced 17 assists, while freshman
Alyssa Proper paced the Waynesburg defensive effort with 10 digs.
The Orange and Black is back in action on Saturday with a road PAC tri-match at Geneva. Waynesburg will face the host Golden Tornadoes, as well as Thomas More. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
