WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 3) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team picked up its first win of 2016 when it hosted Pitt Bradford on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets managed just enough offense to down the Panthers in a 1-0 victory.
The Waynesburg (1-1) attack kept the pressure on Bradford (0-1) over 90 minutes and peppered the opposing goal with 22 shots, 11 of which were on goal. The Jackets were finally able to slip the evening's only tally past the opposing keeper when junior
Zach Mitschke forced his way through the Panther defense to bury his first score of the year.
That was more than enough offense for sophomore keeper
James Snyder, who worked his first collegiate shutout over 90 minutes of action. The Waynesburg defense kept Snyder's workload light, as Bradford managed just two shots on goal, both of which came in the first half.
Waynesburg is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 7, when it heads to Muskingum. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
