ANDERSON, Ind. (Sept .3) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team opened the 2016 campaign on Friday at the Anderson (Ind.) Invitational. The Yellow Jackets played two matches in the first of two days of the event and dropped both by 3-0 scores.
The Jackets (0-2) opened the season by squaring off against the host Ravens (1-1). Anderson took the match by the set scores of 25-19, 25-11, 25-8. Sophomore
Jordyn Wyllie recorded a team-high five kills in the setback. Sophomore
Sydni Ayers helped out the Waynesburg offense with a match-high 15 assists, while the Jacket defense was led by freshman
Alyssa Proper, who came up with 10 digs.
Match two saw Franklin (2-1) down Waynesburg 25-10, 25-13, 25-13. Wyllie and sophomore
Lexy Waldman each put down four kills against the Grizzlies. Ayers added 10 more assists, while also pacing the Jackets with nine digs.
Waynesburg will play two more matches at Anderson tomorrow.
