PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Sept .3) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team hit the road for the first time this fall when they faced La Roche on Friday. After falling behind early, the Yellow Jackets mounted a valiant comeback effort that ultimately came up a bit short of victory during a 2-1 loss to the Redhawks.
A pair of first-half goals allowed the Hawks (1-0) to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room. However, Waynesburg (0-2) responded by shutting out the host team in period number two. Sophomore
Nikki Davis broke up the shutout with a tally in the 49
th minute of action. Davis has scored both Jacket goals in the very young 2016 campaign.
Unfortunately, the Jackets were unable to complete the rally and suffered the defeat despite being outshot by a 13-3 margin. Junior
Heather Fraser started and played all 90 minutes in net. She tallied five saves in the setback.
The Jackets return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 7, with a road game at Muskingum. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
