WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 21) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team hosted a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches on Saturday at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. The Yellow Jackets dropped a 3-0 match to Geneva to start the day, then came back later in the evening, when it fell 3-0 to Thomas More.
Geneva (11-18, 9-6) scored a victory in the opener by the set scores of 25-13, 25-22, 25-13. Thomas More (25-5, 16-0) stayed undefeated in PAC play after downing the host team 25-20, 25-17, 25-11.
Junior
Jordyn Wyllie averaged a team-high 2.0 kills per set for Waynesburg (1-22, 0-16). Sophomore
Jordan Simpson and junior
Cassidy Guiser chipped in nine and eight kills on the day. Freshmen
Olivia Zuchelli and
Rachel Lemay helped out with 20 and 12 assists, respectively.
Guiser paced the Waynesburg defensive effort with a team-high 18 digs. Simpson and freshman
Hannah Colvin were strong along with net with four and three blocks, respectively.
Waynesburg hosts its final home match of the season on Thursday, Oct. 26. The Yellow Jackets face Bethany in a 7 p.m. PAC contest.
