Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Jackets just miss out on PAC playoffs

Waynesburg drops 3-1 final to W&J on last day of regular season

WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 28) – Saturday's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) men's soccer showdown between Waynesburg and Washington & Jefferson was a winner-take-all clash between the two rivals. The victorious squad punched its ticket for the four-team conference tournament, while the loser got to begin its preparations for 2018.

Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets (5-9-2, 3-5) came up short of victory, falling 3-1 to the Presidents (11-6, 4-4).

W&J opened the scoring in the 10th minute of action off a free kick and kept its advantage throughout the remainder of the first period. The Jackets tallied their final goal of 2017 when sophomore Nate Kummer took a foul in the goal box to set up a penalty kick in the 64th minute. Kummer buried the attempt to tie the score at 1-1.

The game-deciding point came just over 10 minutes later off a pass from a free kick. The Presidents sealed the victory with just 17 seconds showing on the clock.

Freshman Adam Dolan started in goal and was solid, stopping seven-of-eight shots on net over 45 minutes of action. His rookie teammate, Daniel Brode recorded three saves during the second half.
