WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 18) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team braved heavy rains and cold temperatures on Saturday as it hosted Lancaster Bible College at Waynesburg Central High School. Senior
Abbie Miller was solid in her first start as a goalkeeper, but her efforts weren't enough, as the Chargers scored a 14-5 win.
Lancaster Bible (2-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after 15:49 of play, before senior
Holly Bachman split the pipes on her first goal of the day. The final 14-plus minutes of the first half saw the two teams trade goals. Seniors
Shannon Morgan and
Brandi Rohal scored for Waynesburg (0-3) before the first 30 minutes came to a close. By the time the opening half came to a close, LBC held a 10-3 lead.
Bachman and Morgan both scored their second goals of the afternoon for the Jackets in period number two. Arguably the biggest positive for Waynesburg on Saturday was Miller's efforts in net, which resulted in the veteran stopping 16-of-30 shots on goal, including multiple free position shots.
The Jackets are back in action on Friday, March 24, when they travel to Penn State Abington. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
