LATROBE, Pa. (April 12) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team traveled to Saint Vincent for an Ohio River Lacrosse Conference match. The Yellow Jackets fell 17-8 to the Bearcats.
The Jackets (0-10, 0-5) jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior
Holly Bachman scored 1:50 into the game. Unfortunately, Saint Vincent (7-3, 3-1) responded by tallying seven of the next eight goals to build a 7-2 lead with 16:12 remaining in the first half.
The two teams ended the opening period by scoring three goals each. Bachman split the pipes two more times to complete a first-half hat trick. The Bearcats went into the locker room with a 10-5 lead.
SVC put the contest out of reach with a 6-1 run that made the score 13-5 with 20:48 showing on the game clock. A goal from senior
Shannon Morgan pulled the Jackets to within seven points of the lead (13-6), but that was as close as the visitors came to completing the comeback.
Senior
Abbie Miller scored twice to join Bachman as a multiple-goal scorer for Waynesburg.
Freshman
Christina Bauer played all 60 minutes in net and recorded 16 saves. She also scooped a team-high three ground balls.
The Jackets return home on Saturday, April 15, when they host Franklin for an ORLC matchup. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Waynesburg Central High School.
