WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 21) The Waynesburg University softball team played its final non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games of the spring on Friday. The Yellow Jackets split the twin-bill with visiting Mount Aloysius.

Sophomore
Courtney Messenger pitched a gem in game one, as Waynesburg (12-19-1) notched a 4-0 win. The Mounties (14-16) turned the tables on their hosts with a 9-0 victory in the late contest.

Messenger scattered three singles and a double over seven strong innings to improve to 10-8 on the year. She didn't walk a batter and picked up three strikeouts.

Freshman centerfielder
Courtney Syfert was excellent in the leadoff spot, going three-for-four with three stolen bases and two runs scored. Freshman catcher
Rachel Skon added a three-for-three effort with a double, while freshmen
Ashley Dubovich and
Cheyenne Wasko picked up two hits and an RBI each in the winning effort.

Though the final score of game two looked lopsided, all nine of the Mounties' runs were scored in the top of the fourth inning. Sophomore first baseman
Alex Lawrence singled and walked to pace the Jackets in the loss.

Senior pitcher
Lyndi Gareis was the pitcher of record in the circle after allowing six runs on seven hits and three walks over 3.1 innings. Sophomore
Cat Allstatt worked the final 1.2 frames of the contest.

Waynesburg hosts Grove City tomorrow for a PAC doubleheader. First pitch of the day, which will serve as the Jackets' "StrikeOut Cancer" games, is scheduled for 11 a.m. For more information on the Strikeout Cancer program, click
