WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 12) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team hosted La Roche on Tuesday night at John F. Wiley Stadium. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but couldn't hold up to a spirited Redhawk attack, which tied the score at 2-2, before the game ended in a double-overtime draw.
Waynesburg (2-1-1) used a quality over quantity approach to its offense to build its early advantage. Despite being outshot 9-3 over the first 45 minutes of play, senior

Christina Golonka found the back of the net. Davis opened the scoring in the 12
th minute of play when she buried a loose ball past the La Roche (2-2-1) keeper. Just over 14 minutes later, the home team's advantage doubled thanks to a breakaway effort between Golonka and senior
Melanie Byler.
The Jackets looked poised for an impressive victory, but the relentless Redhawk pressure finally got to senior goalkeeper
Heather Fraser, who allowed her first goal in roughly 233 minutes with just 17:15 left in the contest. Waynesburg did its best to hold on to its 2-1 advantage, but the visiting squad tied the score early in the 82
nd minute of action.
La Roche forced overtime after letting loose with a 15-shot effort in period number two. The Jackets were able to adjust to the Redhawk offense and held the opposition in check over 20 minutes of overtime. Both squads attempted just two shots in extra time.
Fraser helped Waynesburg extend its current unbeaten streak to three games by tallying nine saves over 110 minutes in net. The Hawks wound up outshooting their hosts by a 26-8 margin. However, six of the Jackets' attempts were put on goal, while 11 of La Roche's attempts were on target.
Waynesburg is back in action on Friday, with its third-straight home game. The Yellow Jackets host Mount Aloysius for a Night of Nets match, which is a global campaign and partnership to help end malaria. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
