WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 19) – It was a frustrating night at John F. Wiley Stadium for the Waynesburg University women's soccer team. Despite dominating almost every major offensive statistic, the Yellow Jackets saw their five-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-0 loss to Pitt Greensburg.
Waynesburg (4-2-1) out-shot the Bobcats (5-1-1) 15-2 on the evening and held a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Jackets also attempted seven corner kicks, while allowing just two to the visiting squad. Unfortunately for the home team, none of those numbers led to any points. UPG, meanwhile, managed to sneak in the game's only goal with its first shot of the evening, which came during the 24
th minutes of play.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Courtney Syfert stopped her opponents' only other shot on net, which also came in the first half.
Waynesburg is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 23, for the last of six-straight home games. The Yellow Jackets will square off with Salem (N.C.) college at 3 p.m.
