GREENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 20) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team traveled to Pitt Greensburg for a Wednesday night match with the Bobcats. The Yellow Jackets came up on the wrong end of a 3-1 final score.
UPG (2-11) got things going with a tightly contested 25-23 win in set one. Waynesburg (1-10) bounced back to take set two 25-17, but the host squad closed things out with wins of 25-21 and 25-17 in sets three and four, respectively.
Junior
Cassidy Guiser paced the Jackets with a team-high 10 kills, while junior
Jordyn Wyllie chipped in seven successful attacks. Freshman
Olivia Zuchelli helped out the Jacket attack with 15 assists, while classmate
Rachel Lemay chipped in 12 helpers.
Sophomore
Alyssa Proper did what she could on the defensive side by logging a match-high 21 digs. Guiser completed a double-double with 12 digs.
Waynesburg returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition on Saturday, Sept. 23, with a tri-match at Thomas More. The Yellow Jackets will face Chatham, as well as the host Saints. Play starts at 11 a.m.
