WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 28) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team hosted Mount Aloysius on Thursday for a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match with the Mounties. The Yellow Jackets came up short in a 3-1 match.
After dropping the first two sets of the evening, Waynesburg (1-14, 0-8) rebounded by taking set three 25-17. The home team nearly forced a fifth set, but Mount Aloysius (9-9) closed out the contest with a 25-20 triumph in set four.
The Jackets were led by freshman
Hannah Colvin, who put down a match-high 12 kills with a .286 hitting percentage. Junior
Cassidy Guiser added 11 kills, while classmate
Jordyn Wyllie chipped in 10 successful attacks. Junior
Lexy Waldman contributed to a balanced offensive effort with eight kills (.316 hitting percentage).
The freshman duo of
Olivia Zuchelli and
Rachel Lemay helped out the offense with 21 and 20 assists, respectively. Guiser completed a double-double with 21 digs. Sophomore
Alyssa Proper matched Guiser for the match high in that statistic.
Waynesburg returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 4, with a road trip to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Grove City. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
