LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 29) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team started Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) action on the right foot on Friday in Latrobe. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Saint Vincent Bearcats 4-0 to open conference play.
Waynesburg (5-3-1, 1-0) opened the scoring 21 minutes into the match as senior
Nikki Davis buried a cross from fellow senior
Melanie Byler. Byler followed Davis with her own score six minutes later with an assist from junior
Natalie Fortna. Freshman
Jessica Silbaugh finished the scoring in the first half with her first goal of the season.
Byler wrapped up her team's productive day on offense with her team-leading fifth tally of the season in the 47
th minute with another assist for Fortna. Saint Vincent outshot Waynesburg 14-11, but the Jackets had the upper hand with six shots on goal compared to two for the Bearcats.
Waynesburg University returns home for a PAC matchup against Westminster College on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
