WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 16) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team looked poised to pull out a hard-fought win over visiting Chatham on a chilly Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets lost their 1-0 lead late in the contest and fell 2-1 to the Cougars.
Waynesburg (7-4-2, 3-2) grabbed the lead just before halftime when senior
Natalie Fortna (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) scored her third goal in two games late in the 42
nd minute. The score was set up by sophomore
Maddie Walker (Shanksville, Pa. / Shanksville-Stony Creek).

rd minute. Unfortunately, the Cougars (8-5, 2-3) tied the game with 16:06 showing on the game clock. Midway through the 76
th minute, Chatham struck again for the game-winning goal.
The Jackets got off one more shot on the evening courtesy of sophomore

Junior goalkeeper
Courtney Syfert did all she could to keep her team in contention by stopping 16-of-18 shots on goal. The Cougars outshot the host team by a 27-10 margin.
Waynesburg will look to bounce back from the hard-luck loss on Saturday, Oct. 20, when it travels to Grove City. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
