NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 3) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team traveled to Westminster on Wednesday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown with the Titans. The Jackets scored first in a battle of teams with playoff aspirations, but the Titans tallied the game's final goal in overtime to grab a 3-2 victory.
 
Waynesburg (5-3-2, 1-1) opened the scoring when sophomore Jill Moyer lofted a 25-yard chip shot over the Titan (9-3, 2-0) goalkeeper late in the 14^th minute to give her team a 1-0 lead. Westminster responded with the tying goal 9:30 later and grabbed its first lead midway through the 41^st minute.
 
Westminster maintained its one-score edge 30 minutes into the second period until junior Teagan Jenner scored off a free kick to tie the game at 2-2. Neither team was able to score over the final 15 minutes of regulation and the game went into overtime.
 
Waynesburg sophomore Emily Hill nearly stole the victory for her team, but hit the cross bar in the second minute of overtime. After another Yellow Jacket attempt sailed wide left, the Titans ended the contest in the 96^th minute.
 
Junior goalkeeper Courtney Syfert started and played all 96:34 in net for the visiting team.
 
With the exception of corner kicks, pretty much all of Wednesday night's statistics were as even as the final score. The Titans held a slim 15-13 edge in total shots, while both teams put nine attempts on net. Westminster held a major advantage from the corner flags, where it posted 10 attempts to the Jackets' one try.
 
Waynesburg is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 10, when it hosts Bethany for a PAC matchup. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
