WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Nov. 13) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team hosted Allegheny on Tuesday night at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. The Yellow Jackets dropped a 69-49 final score to the visiting Gators.
Allegheny (1-0) scored the first seven points of the game and eventually built a 10-2 lead in the first quarter. A basket by freshman forward
Brooke Fuller (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) cut the Waynesburg (0-2) deficit down to three points (33-30) with three minutes left to play before halftime. However, the Gators answered by tallying the final eight points in the second quarter to take a 41-30 lead into halftime.
Allegheny maintained double-digit leads throughout the entirety of the second half en route to the victory.
Fuller led the Jackets with a team-high 12 points on five-of-11 shooting. She also tied for the game lead with eight rebounds. Sophomore
Andrea Orlosky (Shelocta, Pa. / West Shamokin) added 11 points and eight rebounds on the night. Junior guard
Erin Joyce (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Bishop Canevin) chipped in nine points, four steals and three assists.
Waynesburg is off until Friday when it travels to the Behrend Tip-off Tournament. The Jackets face Mount Union at 8 p.m. and return to the court for day two at the event on Saturday.
