Porter's 26 points powers Waynesburg to 82-55 win at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Jan. 8) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team traveled to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Geneva on Saturday evening. Behind another outstanding game by freshman Haley Porter (Belmont, Ohio / Union Local), the Yellow Jackets defeated the Golden Tornadoes for its first PAC win, 82-55.

Geneva (2-5, 0-3) grabbed the early lead and held it for most of the opening period until sophomore Andrea Orlosky (Shelocta, Pa. / West Shamokin) hit a three-point buzzer beater to give Waynesburg (3-6, 1-3) an 11-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the following period, the Golden Tornadoes regained the lead, but thanks to a 13-2 run, the Jackets went into the locker room with a 33-28 advantage.

Porter led all scorers at the time with 11 points, going four-for-eight while senior Monica Starre (Jewett, Ohio / Carrollton) contributed eight points. Waynesburg out rebounded Geneva 20-19 and forced 14 turnovers, while only committing seven of its own in the first half.

The second half belonged to the Orange and Black, which grew its advantage to 14 by the end of the third quarter (54-40). The story remained the same in the fourth as Waynesburg dominated the period by outscoring Geneva 28-15 to close out the 27-point victory.

Porter finished with a game-high and personal collegiate-best 26 points. Orlosky totaled 17 points with nine rebounds, six steals and three blocks.
