Jackets down Thiel 8-1

GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 18) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team traveled to Thiel for a road Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match with the Tomcats. The Yellow Jackets made the trip a worthwhile one by defeating the Tomcats 8-1.

The Jackets (6-7, 2-4) got things going by winning two of the day's three doubles flights. The number-one tandem of juniors Jonah Cooper and Josh Denham set the tone for the afternoon with an 8-3 win. Seniors Adam McKnight and Andy Brunette followed with an 8-1 triumph of their own at the second flight. Thiel (0-8, 0-7) avoided a doubles sweep with a victory at the number-three spot.

Waynesburg closed the match in style by sweeping all six singles contests. Cooper, Brunette, McKnight, junior Brian Drake and freshman Brett Thumm all won in straight sets. Denham came out on the winning end of a 6-0, 2-6, 10-3 triumph.
