LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 12) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team traveled to Latrobe on Saturday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match. The Yellow Jackets were bested in 3-0 conference matches by Bethany and the hosts from Saint Vincent.
Waynesburg (2-16, 0-8) opened the day with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-15 setback against the homestanding Bearcats (7-15, 2-5). The Jackets followed that up with a 25-19, 25-12, 25-19 loss to the Bison (10-12, 5-2).
The Orange and Black's offensive efforts were paced by sophomore
Hannah Buhr (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick), who put down 15 kills over the two matches. Junior
Mya Brooks chipped in 13 kills over six sets.
Senior
Alyssa Proper (Titusville, Pa. / Maplewood) reached a notable milestone on the day by recording her 1,000
th collegiate dig. She had 17 on the day to go along with a team-high 27 assists. Though it didn't lead to a win, Brooks completed a solid all-around day with 20 digs, while sophomore
Mallory Stopko (Freeport, Pa. / Freeport) paced the Jackets in the defensive category with 34 digs.
Waynesburg returns to the court on Tuesday with a home PAC match against Geneva. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
