WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 15) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team hosted Geneva on Tuesday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The Yellow Jackets played well enough at times to upset the Golden Tornadoes, but the visitors wrapped up a 3-0 victory.
Geneva (15-7, 7-3) took the contest by the set scores of 25-21, 25-13 and 25-23. Waynesburg (2-17, 0-9) was tied 16-16 in the first set, but a 6-0 Geneva run helped clinched the victory. The Jackets looked even stronger in set three, building up leads of 13-7 and 23-19. Unfortunately, the visitors closed the night out with a match-winning 6-0 run.
Sophomore
Alyson Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic) led Waynesburg with a solid defensive effort that produced a match-high 24 digs. Junior
Hannah Colvin (Hagerstown, Md. / Grace Academy) tied the for team lead with six kills and added 15 digs on the night. Senior
Alyssa Proper (Titusville, Pa. / Maplewood) led the Yellow Jackets with 14 assists and chipped in eight digs.
Waynesburg returns to the court on Thursday, Oct. 17, when Westminster comes to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
