WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 19) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team hosted Westminster, the top team in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), for a Saturday night showdown at John F. Wiley Stadium. Thanks in large part to a solid night in net from freshman goalkeeper
Autumn Blair (Penn Hills, Pa. / Penn Hills), the Yellow Jackets played right with the Titans. Unfortunately, the visitors scored early in the second half to pull out a 1-0 win.
Westminster (9-5-2, 4-0-1) ripped off 10 first-half shot, but Blair and Waynesburg (2-10-2, 0-3-2) managed to keep them off the scoreboard over the first 45 minutes of competition. The Titans slipped in the first-and-only goal of the evening late in the 49
th minute of the game.
The Yellow Jackets didn't quit and managed to put a pair of quality shots on goal against the stingy Titan defense. Unfortunately, none found the back of the net and the visitors held on for the win.
Blair continued her solid rookie campaign in net by stopping eight-of-nine shots on goal.
The Jackets return to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 22, when they travel to Saint Vincent. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
