Waynesburg women host Otterbein

Jackets fall to Cardinals

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Nov. 26) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team played host to Otterbein for a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets fell by the final score of 84-56.

Senior guard Alli Delaney (Belmont, Ohio / Union Local) led the charge for Waynesburg (1-4) with 15 points over 26 minutes off the bench. She shot five-for-eight from the floor and knocked down four-of-seven attempts from three-point range.

Despite battling illness, sophomore center Brooke Fuller (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) put together a solid night, going for 13 points and five rebounds over just 17 minutes on the court. She shot 60 percent (six-for-10) from the field.

Freshman Zoie Smith (Berlin, Pa. / Berlin Brothersvalley) chipped in nine points and a game-high three blocks off the bench, while freshman point guard Anika Dansby (Massilon, Ohio / Washington) went for eight points, a squad-best four assists and three rebounds.

Otterbein (4-1) led 18-12 after the first quarter and nudged that lead up to 34-25 at halftime. The Jackets stayed within striking distance through three quarters, as the Cardinals led 48-36 going into the final period. Unfortunately, the visiting team's long-range shooting caught fire over the last 10 minutes of play, allowing it to seal the victory. The Cardinals hit on seven of their 14 treys in the fourth.

The Jackets more than doubled up Otterbein at the free throw line, making 10-of-12 tries from the stripe. The Cardinals converted four-of-six attempts.

After playing four of its first five games at home, Waynesburg hits the road on Wednesday, Dec. 4, to open PAC play at Grove City. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
