NEW CONCORD, Ohio (Dec. 18) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team traveled to Muskingum Wednesday evening to face off in a nonconference matchup. The Yellow Jackets fell behind early and wound up suffering a 95-48 loss to the Muskies.
After opening the game on a 5-2 run, Waynesburg (0-9) allowed Muskingum (5-3) to score five-straight points to take a 7-5 lead. The Yellow Jackets tied the score at 7-7 on a layup by senior guard
Cam Auld (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin), but the Muskies scored 19 seconds after Auld's basket and never looked back.
Muskingum went on a 17-0 run mid-way through the first half. By the end of the opening period, Waynesburg found itself in a 55-24 deficit. The home team continued to pull away in the second half on its way to the win.
Pacing the Yellow Jackets in scoring was sophomore forward
Isaiah Alonzo (Chandler, Ariz. / Tri-City Christian Academy), who tallied 16 points on four-of-10 shooting from the field and seven-of-eight free throw tries. Freshman guard
Ryan Felberg (Twinsburg, Ohio / Twinsburg) finished his night with eight points and two assists, while senior guard
Frank Bozicevic (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) added seven points, two assists, two steals and a block in the game.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Friday, Dec. 20, when they travel to Canton, Ohio, to take on Malone. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
