DELAWARE, Ohio (Dec. 21) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team faced off against Ohio Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The Yellow Jackets dropped the contest by a score of 86-54.
Waynesburg (1-9) was once again led by sophomore center
Brooke Fuller (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton), who paced the Yellow Jackets with 14 points on six-of-13 shooting from the field. She added nine rebounds, just missing out on a double-double. Freshman forward
Zoie Smith (Berlin, Pa. / Berlin Brothersvalley) managed her third double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and bringing down a career-best 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard
Kacey Kastroll (South Park, Pa. / South Park) was the only other Yellow Jacket to score double-digit points, recording 10 on four-of-eight shooting.
Waynesburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a layup by Fuller. That was the team's final lead of the afternoon, however, as Ohio Wesleyan (6-4) cruised from that point on. The Battling Bishops built to a 23-15 lead by the end of the first quarter, which they then extended to 45-28 by halftime. Ohio Wesleyan continued to build that lead throughout the second half until the game came to its final.
The Yellow Jackets won the rebound battle in the contest, edging the Battling Bishops 42-41 in that category.
Waynesburg returns to action on Monday, Dec. 30, when it travels to Meadville, Pennsylvania, to take on the Allegheny College Gators. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
